Leica - Launch in East Malaysia

Launch of the Leica Boutique, Suria Sabah, Kota Kinabalu

Any avid photographer would know the world famous brand Leica. Originating from Germany and having been around since 1954, Leica is a camera brand associated with exclusivity, class and precision. Admittedly I only knew of Leica about a year as I don't know too much about photography but I do know that these Leica babies do not come cheap!

Being such an exclusive brand it was only apt for Leica be launched in East Malaysia with such class and style in premier shopping centre, Suria Sabah. Curious, I accepted my invitation to the Leica launch and mini exhibit held at the On On Camera shop at Suria Sabah, Kota Kinabalu.

The new Leica boutique is only the 3rd boutique to open in Malaysia and will be housed in the On On Camera Shop in the back corner. The new Leica boutique has its own couch, TV screen and display of some beautiful work by KL based photographer, Lim Lei Ling.

On the night we were treated to a mini exhibition of photographic work taken by the Leica camera (of course!) A few Leica cameras were floating around for demonstration and sampling which was very very popular! As I'm not a professional photog I can't really comment on the technicalities of the wares but I personally love the vintage look and feel of the camera.

And these days, no event is complete without a photobooth! Guests on the night were treated to a complimentary photo with the Leica and On On Camera backdrop!

Once all the formalities were over the exhibition continued outside the shop where food was served by hip local cafe, Party Play (one of my favourite modern cafes in KK to eat and chill out with friends). Talk about lucky me! :)

With photography becoming more and more popular as a hobby and profession it must be exciting for local KK photographers to have access to a Leica boutique!
