Marine Awareness Month at Gayana Eco Resort ~ Special Concert by Ronan Keating

"SAVE THE GIANTS"

Standing on a beach in a middle of a crowd, swaying while listening to Ronan Keating belting "When You Say Nothing At All", reaching out my hand as he came down to high-five the crowd: Yup, just another Sunday afternoon for me in beautiful Borneo :)

Just kidding. I wished this happened every weekend but then I'd be very sunburnt and lose my voice from screaming too loud as Ronan performs.

Ronan was in fact at Gayana Eco Resort for one weekend in April to perform as part of the campaign by Gayane Eco Resort to raise awareness for Giant Clams. "Giant Clams?" I hear you ask. I asked too. I had no idea about Giant Clams and the delicate state their lives were in. I just thought they were muscle-looking things living in shells which occasionally blew bubbles! Boy, was I wrong. And this was why such an event was organized: To teach uninformed people like myself. And what better way to learn about endangered clams than in an island paradise like Gayana?

Some cheeky peeps

Besides watching an awesome concert put together by the resort guests also had the chance to plant some coral. Once these little coral 'islands' stabilized they are planted in the wild so they can flourish!

And of course there was the Ronan concert. Here are some pics I took while I was there. It was great to see someone like Ronan come out all the way here to raise awareness. Here are some pics of you to enjoy :)

Apologies for the lack of posts lately. Been unwell and very busy with all things cake! Can't wait to share more with you soon. Till then, toddles!

Peace & Love
